BLUE CITY

The city named “Blue City” of Jodhpur, is one of the most iconic and picturesque destinations in the country. Known for its striking blue-painted houses and historical significance, it offers a unique blend of culture, heritage, and architecture. Traditionally, these houses were painted blue by the Brahmins, a priestly caste, to signify their homes. Over time, the practice extended to other communities as well. Blue is also believed to have a cooling effect in the intense heat of Rajasthan and serves as a natural insect repellent.

RANISAR LAKE

Ranisar Lake was built in 1459, commissioned by Queen Jasmade Hadi, the consort of Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, is a serene and picturesque waterbody that holds historical, cultural, and ecological significance. Nestled near the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, this lake offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city and is essential to Jodhpur’s heritage. Ranisar Lake is located close to the Mehrangarh Fort, making it easily accessible for tourists. The lake’s proximity to this iconic fort adds to its appeal, as visitors often explore both attractions during their visit to Jodhpur. It is situated alongside another historical lake, Padamsar, together forming a twin-lake system that enhances the beauty and utility of the area.

PANCHAITIYA HILL

Mandore Gardens is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Jodhpur city. Jodhpur sightseeing is incomplete without visiting these gardens. Brimming with cenotaphs, old temples, and several other Madore Garden is another wonderful destination to take you for a trip back in time. This area is of major historical importance and you will find the dewals or cenotaphs of Jodhpur’s former rulers. Climb up the hill to have a look at the ruined city of Mandore with its old palace. And, beware of langur monkeys in this garden. They play around in hordes.

BLUE WALL

Clock Tower is a famous landmark in the Old City. It was constructed by Maharaja Sardar Singh during his tenure between 1880 and 1911. The clock tower offers a good view of the fort. Sardar Market is adjacent to Clock Tower where a wide range of products is sold. You can find handicrafts, saris, spices, vegetables and a lot more. There are over 7000 shops and you can have a great shopping experience here.
